Module 6: Solving Quadratic Equations
Can you see the use of the quadratic formula in this structure?
|
Once a quadratic equation is represented in standard form, there are different strategies available to solve it.
- First, attempt to solve the quadratic equation by factoring the polynomial expression completely. Then, apply the Zero Product Property to determine the solutions.
- If the quadratic equation cannot be solved by factoring, use the quadratic formula to determine the solutions. The quadratic formula can be an excellent tool to use when solving quadratic equations that model practical problems, as these equations often cannot be solved by factoring.
Be mindful of these strategies as you continue your study of algebra.
