Module 5 Overview:

So far, we have studied linear functions and their graphs. Let’s turn our attention now to non-linear models. These models help us describe the motion of a bouncing ball, or the path of a rocket or other projectiles. These models can be described algebraically using polynomials.

In this module, we will begin by describing polynomials and reviewing basic operations with polynomials. We will examine graphs of quadratic and cubic polynomials to investigate and determine the zeros of a polynomial function .We will study how to solve a polynomial algebraically by factoring and by using the quadratic formula. Finally, we will use what we have learned about polynomials and their zeros to solve systems of non-linear equations.
