Introduction to Topic 7.3 - Rational Functions: Investigation and Analysis
In this topic, you will extend what you learned about the graphs of rational functions in the last topic. You will learn to analyze a rational function and describe its domain, range, zeros, x-intercepts, y-intercepts, asymptotes, points of discontinuity, and end behavior.
Essential Question(s): How can we identify the domain, range, zeros and intercepts of a rational function presented algebraically or graphically? How do we describe restricted/discontinuous domains and ranges of rational functions? Given the graph of a rational function, how do we identify intervals on which the function is increasing and decreasing? How can we find the equations of vertical and horizontal asymptotes of rational functions? How can we describe the end behavior of rational functions?
