Introduction to Topic 9.3 - Geometric Sequences and Series
In the last topic, you learned the definition and essential characteristics of arithmetic sequences, when there is a common difference between consecutive terms. In the final topic of this module, we will examine geometric sequences, when there is a common multiplier, called a common ratio, between consecutive terms in the sequence. Using this ratio, you will be able to determine any of the terms in the sequence.
We also will learn how to add together some or all of the terms of such sequences and create geometric series.
Essential Questions: How do you identify and determine the general rule for a geometric sequence? How do geometric sequences and series model real-world situations? How do you identify and determine the sum of convergent infinite series?
