A large treeThere are more than 300,000 species of plants on Earth. Out of those 300,000, about 10,000 are trees. Trees are considered vascular plants, meaning they contain tissues that distribute material throughout the plant. Trees are some of the longest living organisms on the planet and one of the Earth's greatest natural resources. They keep our air supply clean, reduce noise pollution, improve water quality, help prevent erosion, provide food and building materials, create shade, and help make landscapes look beautiful.
