In this module, you learned how to build a full, formal MLA-formatted persuasive research paper. You found concrete sources to support your viewpoints, used parenthetical citations, and built a Works Cited page to give credit to your sources. You also had the chance to publish your work. The publication of writing requires keen insight into your audience and the purpose of your writing. Publishing and the decisions that come with it requires that you look critically at your work, revise and edit it to the best of your ability, and use critical thinking skills to make important decisions on where, how, and to whom you will publish your work. You may not want to become the next novelist, but you may have to publish your writing in various ways to various audiences in college and in the work place.
In writing with persuasion, you had the opportunity to find your literary voice and apply it in the real world. You may be able to take those ideas and use them to make the world around you better. Perhaps making your own voice be heard is your path to realizing your American Dream.
