Political turmoil ruled the Restoration and the Neoclassical Periods. In this module, you read a variety of literary works that had historical connections to the events of the time. The great British poets of the 17th and 18th centuries advocated for others to carpe diem, or to seize the day. You also learned about satire while analyzing Jonathan Swift’s "A Modest Proposal," a piece that shocked and appalled his contemporaries.
Later in the module, you explored topics related to drafting a research paper and creating oral presentations. You then demonstrated what you learned by delivering an oral presentation about a social issue with a group of your coursemates. These skills will help you as you continue to write for this course, but they will also benefit you as you prepare to graduate.
