This module presented best practices for online research and strategies for organizing your research. You were trained how to make Internet search engines work for you and how to create a good thesis statement. The thesis statement and outline provide a road map for you to follow when developing an essay or research project. You also learned how to recognize and avoid plagiarism, as well as how to evaluate websites for reliability. Finally, you were introduced to the MLA Style.
From this point on in the course, you will use these strategies and practices to document any and all research and outside sources that you use in your assignments. Being able to find and identify trustworthy and credible sources of information will help you not only in school, but most importantly, throughout your life as you seek out information to help you make important decisions. By being able to organize information into a formatted document, such as an MLA paper, you are able to better organize the information you find and express your own opinions.
