Module 9: Amusons-nous!

Wooden sign with "Tahiti" written on it and posted by a beach

blog iconIn this module, you learned about leisure time, negative words, the present tense of regular -ir verbs, and Tahiti. Get ready, because now you and your imaginary family of five are going to tour Tahiti. While you are there, you need to recreate your experience, and blog about your travels. A blog is an online journal, which allows authors to create entries detailing different topics.

Your blog entry will include the French names of your family members and descriptions of seven activities you do while visiting Tahiti. In addition, your writing must use the -ir verbs choisir and finir, and the -er verb, aimer. You will begin your travels in Pape'ete, and then plan out the rest of your travel throughout the country.

Your blog entries should meet the following criteria:

  • You need to create at least one entry for every activity you do in Tahiti.
  • You must visit at least three cities in the country.
  • Each entry should be five to eight sentences in length.
  • Each entry should include three to four facts about the featured activity, along with expressive words or phrases to describe your adventures.
  • Your blog should be written in the first person, as if you were a traveler in Tahiti.
  • Each blog entry should be accompanied by at least one image. You may draw or design these images, or you may use copyright-free digital images that you find online.
  • You should write your entries with the intention of informing and motivating readers to travel to Tahiti.

Required and Suggested Topics

Your blog should be creative, informative, accurate, and well organized. In addition, you should use the French language you know from the course, although some English may be necessary. Before you begin, access the Traveling Around Tahiti Rubric to make sure that you include all items required for full credit. You will need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment, so please submit a Works Cited document with your assignment submission. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing resources that you use.

Options to create your blog include the following:

  1. Use a word-processing, presentation, paint, or graphics program to assemble your blog, and then submit your blog to the assignment's dropbox.
  2. Use an online blog composition tool, and follow prompts provided by the website to create and name your blog, and add your entries. When you have completed your blog, you may record the link on a word processing document for submission to the assignment's dropbox.
  3. Use a mobile or computer-based application to create your blog, and email or export the final product for submission to the assignment's dropbox.
