Module Overview
Symmetry and Transformations

symmetrical room decor You see examples of symmetry in almost every aspect of your life: the shape of a stop sign, the petals of a flower, and even the letters of the alphabet. Symmetry is an important part of your Geometry course because it forms much of the foundation for exploring relationships among various lines and polygons. It also plays a key role in identifying translations in which figures move, reflect, or turn in some way to create a new figure. Get ready to "tumble" your way through symmetry and transformations!

Getting Started

Puzzling Pieces interactivitygetting started icon Have you ever put together a jigsaw puzzle? If so, you have experienced manipulating shapes in various ways, such as translating, flipping, and rotating. You will learn how to manipulate shapes in geometry in similar ways. Before you begin this module, take a moment to complete this interactivity. You will move and manipulate puzzle pieces to complete the jigsaw puzzle. Click the player button to get started.
