Introduction
Parallelograms

blue, white, and teal parallelograms

In this topic, you will review the characteristics common to all quadrilaterals, or four-sided figures, as well as those that are unique to parallelograms. A parallelogram is a specific type of quadrilateral. It is a quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides congruent and parallel. Since all parallelograms are quadrilaterals, the attributes of a parallelogram include all those of quadrilaterals. Quadrilaterals are one of the most commonly used polygons, not only in your mathematics courses but also in the real world.

Properties of Parallelograms Interactivity

Warm-up iconIn order to expand your knowledge of quadrilaterals, you need to recall prior learning from previous math grades. In those years, you were able to describe the properties of quadrilaterals. These math concepts were followed by being able to compare and contrast quadrilaterals based on the properties of those quadrilaterals. In this non-graded interactivity, you are going to look further at the properties of parallelograms. This will help you interpret geometry symbols in diagrams. Click the player button to get started.
