Avoiding the Repair Shop: Risk Management

Mechanic
Driving carries with it plenty of risks -- namely the risk of an accident. How you drive, however, can reduce those risks. The more careful and safe you are when you sit behind the wheel, the better your chances are of avoiding an accident.

The same goes for life in general. Each day presents its own set of risks, but it is how you encounter those risks that determines if you fall victim to them. You are about to learn how safe behaviors, violence prevention, and acquiring knowledge of communicable and non-communicable diseases can help you better manage risks and keep your body out of the repair shop.

When you are outside enjoying your favorite activity, whether it be canoeing, swimming, hiking, or even taking a stroll down the street, there are safety precautions you should take. In this module, you will learn how to stay safe while enjoying common recreational activities. As long as you manage your risks and act responsibly, there should be little holding you back from the health benefits of the great outdoors.

Getting Started

LogTake a moment to think about safety measures you take in your day to day life. Consider ways you stay safe when doing recreational activities, avoiding diseases, and interacting with others in your environment.
