The decisions you make impact your community. This includes making healthy choices about your future career, the way you treat the environment, and the way you support others who experience challenges in their lives. In this module, you will gain a better understanding of healthcare, and discover whether you would like to have a job that falls under this umbrella. You will also learn about environmental factors that impact your community, and how your actions and the decisions of legislators affect people’s health locally and globally. Furthermore, you will explore how healthcare providers, health insurance, and public health agencies can help you gain access to the care you need throughout life. Finally, you will gain an understanding of possible challenges others in your community experience, and ways you can volunteer to help support them.
Getting Started
When you think of your future, what does it look like? On a piece of paper, draw a picture that encompasses your vision of your college or career after high school, what your home looks like, what your neighborhood looks like, and who is living in your community.
