Summary

Physical and Ecological Processes

Antelope Canyon, Navajo Nation Reservation

Different physical and ecological processes created landforms and water features around the world. Some of these processes occur over millions of years, like a river gradually eroding rock to form a canyon. Other processes occur suddenly, like a flash flood washing away huge amounts of soil at once.

These natural forces continually shape and change the Earth's surface. Even the continents continue to change due to the slowly moving tectonic plates that form the Earth's crust. Once you embark on your journey around the world, you will see many of these physical features. You will also learn how people live with and around them.
