The Italian Renaissance

Medieval art and literature focused solely on the Church and salvation, while Renaissance art and literature focused on individuals and worldly matters, along with Christianity. Renaissance artists and writers found inspiration in classical texts. These humanists, as they were called, came to believe that education was important in order for a person to achieve greatness, reach their potential, and have a meaningful life. Renaissance art, literature, and philosophy reflected the beliefs held by humanists.
