Comparing and Contrasting Eastern Religions

A Buddhist temple in the Yunnan province of China
Two major religions began in classical India: Hinduism and Buddhism. Hinduism developed over time with many contributing beliefs, while Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, later known as The Buddha. Hinduism included the concept of karma to encourage people to abide by the caste system. Buddhists believe in karma, but they did not believe in the caste system. Buddhism was spread to China by Asoka, and Hinduism remained largely in India.
