Assignment iconThe Top Ten Events of the Cold War

Many events encompass what is now thought of as the Cold War (1946-1991). What do you think the top ten most important events were during that time period? These events can be the election of leaders, important conflicts, policies, etc.

After considering the events of this time period, create a list of the top ten most important Cold War events using the following steps:

  1. Rank ten events of the Cold War from the 1st important event to the 10th important event.
  2. Write two to three sentences describing each event— detailing the event and why it is important.
  3. Write two to three sentences stating why each event should be ordered in that position.

Once you have made your list, create an illustrated timeline using your list of the top ten events of the Cold War. Your top ten events should be placed in chronological order and each event should have the date and one relevant image. Since this is your interpretation of the importance of these events, be creative and make sure to illustrate them accordingly. You can design your timeline horizontally, vertically, or in another format, as long as it is well-organized.

Before you begin, access the Top Ten Events of the Cold War Rubric so that you understand how your assignment will be graded.
