Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
In previous math courses, you learned about parallel and perpendicular lines. Parallel lines are lines that are included in the same plane and never intersect, and perpendicular lines intersect to form right angles. If you look closely, you can find examples of parallel and perpendicular lines almost everywhere. Take a moment to look at the objects around you. Do you notice any parallel or perpendicular lines on the walls, on the floor, or perhaps outside of a window?
Take a picture or draw an image of the parallel or perpendicular lines that you notice in your environment and post it to the discussions area. Then, return to the topic several times over the next few days to read your coursemates’ posts. “Vote” for the three images that you find to be the most creative by replying with the word “like” and writing at least one sentence explaining why you like it. The image with the most “likes” is the class favorite.
