Cassini–Huygens, an unmanned spacecraft sent to Saturn
As you moved through this module you learned how rockets were first discovered and how they were used to propel humans and instruments to space. As rocket technologies grew, a space race began between the United States and the U.S.S.R. and lasted around 20 years. The discoveries and technological advances that occurred during this time were rapid. In 1975, the space race ended when both countries worked together in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
Since this time, many countries have been putting forth their combined efforts to help make and produce amazing discoveries. One example is the International Space Station, which is a combined effort from many countries. Not only does this allow scientists to work together, but it also allows countries to share the cost associated with this and other missions.
