Over time, many more dwarf planets will become discovered as technology improves. When Pluto was first discovered as a planet in 1930, many scientists believed it should not have been in the same classification as the other eight planets in the Solar System. It was not until the International Astronomical Union came up with a new way to classify planets as dwarf planets (after Eris was discovered in 2005) that Pluto was reclassified. As the IAU continues to make strides in classification, and as astronomers continue to find new celestial objects, new dwarf planets may be found.
