When a disease occurs, either through pathogens, organ failure, toxins, or unhealthy habits, homeostasis is disrupted. Some diseases can be managed with treatment and therapy, while others can be serious, even fatal.
Imagine that you work for a government agency that educates the general public on health-related topics. Your job is to design a website layout about a disease that hospitals can use with their patients. You can choose a disease that affects one or more of the body systems you have learned about in this module, including the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory, nervous, endocrine, immune, or lymphatic system.
The website layout must include the following items:
Your website layout can be a single page webpage design, or you can design a "wireframe" for a website with more than one webpage. Make sure that your website layout is creative, well-designed, and easy to understand. Before you begin, access the Disease Website Layout Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit. You will need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment, so please submit a Works Cited document with your assignment submission. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you use.
Options to create your website layout include the following:
Reflection
Once you have completed your website layout, take a few minutes to consider the following questions: Imagine that you have been diagnosed with a disease. What methods would you use to learn about the affects the disease could have on your body? How has learning about the structures and functions of your body systems given you greater insight on how a disease could affect you?
Once you have completed your website layout, Works Cited document, and Reflection, please submit your work to the dropbox.
