The Fossil Record and the Origin of Life

Fossils can tell scientists quite a bit about the approximate time on the geologic time scale that an organism existed, as well as an organisms characteristics. Basically, the fossil allows scientists to create a profile of an animal or plant. Take a few moments to look at the fossil shown in the image to the left. What can you tell about this organism by looking at the image? What type of organism do you think it is? What support can you provide for your ideas?
