For example, imagine that you are studying tree species in your local area. For the Application assignment in this topic, you will need to identify different species of trees in your environment, but you must first become familiar with trees that are common in your community. Conduct a brief online research and determine at least six tree species that live in your area. Take notes on the scientific name of each species and the physical characteristics of the leaves, such as shape, texture, color, etc. Keep a copy of your notes to refer to as you complete the Application assignment later in this topic.
