Dilution

PipetteSolutions in a laboratory stock room are usually purchased and stored in concentrated form. These are called stock solutions. When different solutions are needed in the lab, scientists obtain the stock solution and essentially dilute it until the desired concentration is achieved. This is called dilution. The words “concentrated” and “diluted” are just qualitative vocabulary comparing the different molarity of the solution. Solutions that have a high concentration also contain a high molarity. Diluted solutions with a low concentration will have a low molarity.
