The Electromagnetic Spectrum and the Doppler Effect

a girl listeningAlthough astronomers use the Doppler effect on light to measure the movement of stars, the Doppler effect is actually a general wave phenomenon, meaning it applies to sound waves as well. Take a few moments (around 10 seconds) to listen to any sounds that are taking place around you. You may be in a classroom, at home, or even out on the street. If you have a mobile device, smartphone, or any other digital recording device, you may want to record around 10 seconds of sound.
