Identification of Minerals

To the untrained eye, minerals can be difficult to identify by their appearance alone. It is important to test a variety of physical properties of a mineral sample in order to confidently identify it out of thousands of possibilities. A combination of color, luster, hardness, streak, and breakage provides the best data to identify minerals.
