Writing Focus - Literary Analysis

Take a moment and review some of the major archetypical characters such as  the hero, faithful companion, villain, trickster, mentor, and scapegoat. While you are reviewing these archetypes, think about their role in the literary work. Also, think about how each archetype might change as the story progresses.  Once you have reviewed each of the listed archetypes, think about the following questions:

• Which one of the archetypes are you most like?
• Which one are you least like?
• Do any of your friends or relatives fit the definition of the listed archetypical characters?
