Nonfiction Persuasion

An American flag with two people and a gun overtop

Persuasion is present in our daily lives. It is what many use in order to get individuals to buy into a product, an idea, an organization, or an individual. Persuasion is used to change minds, to change lives, and provide solutions. As you read Hillary Clinton’s speech, you were called to support the movement in advancing the women’s rights in the twenty-first century. As you read President Obama’s remarks on gun control, you were reminded of the tragedy that occurred in Newton, Connecticut. You were also provided possible solutions to prevent further tragedy. Each speech focused on topics that greatly impact the nation. You must be aware of the information that is presented and sift through the persuasive techniques to ensure that the purpose is genuine and the claims are supported.
