Now that you have explored the narrative writing of others, it is your turn to explore your own views and express them in a personal narrative essay. Writing a narrative essay now will help prepare you later for submitting effective applications for colleges, scholarships, or any situation in which someone needs to gain a sense of who you are as a person and learn a little bit about you. If you like, you may use a line from your biopoem to narrow the focus of your essay. As you write your one-page narrative essay, focus on including the following elements:

• An engaging "hook" in the introduction
  
• Accurate word choice
  
• Descriptive details that "show" and do not "tell" the reader information
  
• Organization of the essay in a logical pattern
  
• A strong writer's voice that allows the real you to shine through

You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document.
