Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest is a comedy of manners that comments on social norms using humor and wit. On the other hand, Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman is a sobering tragedy that critiques American values and features a dysfunctional family. Although produced nearly fifty years apart on two separate continents, the two plays share many similarities as well as differences.
Now that you have read and explored a British play and an American play, show your understanding of the dramatic works by comparing them using a graphic organizer. For this application, create a Venn diagram that has two circles, one for each play. Make sure to label each circle with the name of the play it represents. Each circle must contain at least three characteristics that make it unique from the other play, and the middle section where the circles intersect must contain at least three points of how the works are similar.
