Think back to your early childhood, and try to remember the first poem you ever heard. What are your poetic memories? When you were a small child, you may have heard some of these lines:
"Peter, Peter pumpkin eater, had a wife and couldn't keep her,
He put her in a pumpkin shell, and there he kept her very well."
Song lyrics are poetry too. Do you remember this verse from your childhood?
"Mary had a little lamb whose fleece was white as snow,
and everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go."
