In addition, you read the entire first act of Romeo and Juliet. You met most of the main characters, such as Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt, and the nurse. Early in the play, you witnessed the most recent skirmish between the two feuding families. With the first meeting between Romeo and Juliet, you watched the young teenagers fall in love before learning that they are from enemy families. This first act offered a glimpse of what is to come in the next act.
