Clothing Clothing fashion is extremely popular in France, especially in Paris. Paris is even considered the fashion capital of the world! When pronouncing clothing items in French, there is one major difference you must recognize. In English, you use a plural word for clothing items like pants, jeans, shorts, and pajamas. However, since these clothing items are really one item, the French use a singular word. Color and Adjective Agreement

You should already know how to pronounce many common school supplies. You also have learned how to make adjectives agree with the genders and numbers of nouns. You need to use the same adjective agreement when you describe the colors of clothing items. Remember, adjectives in French almost always come after the nouns they describe. For example: une robe verte means a green dress. In this example, the color green is located after the word dress. Verte is in the feminine form to match the noun robe.
