Menu for a Day
Use your knowledge of food groups and serving sizes to create a sample menu for one day. On the Menu for a Day Template, provide information about full meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as two snacks. Make sure to incorporate food from all of the main food groups, and list the foods and serving sizes on your menu. At the end of your menu, check to make sure you have followed the nutrition guidelines set forth in MyPlate for someone of your age and gender.
To obtain nutrition information about items on your menu, visit the grocery store, use samples of foods in your house, access Food-A-Pedia from the USDA's website, or visit a brand's website. Food labels will provide you with the appropriate information. Include specific information about the items that you choose. For example, for breakfast you would indicate the brand of cereal you used, the serving and food group information, and why you have chosen it.
Before you begin, access the Menu for a Day Rubric to make sure you include all items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you used.
Once you have completed your menu, please submit your work to the dropbox.
