Position, Distance, and Displacement

Coinsdiscussion iconPlace a coin or other small object on a desk or table and pretend that you are trying to describe to someone else its location. What is the minimum information you would need to include to describe precisely where your object is?  Would your description change based on who you were trying to tell?  Visit the discussions area and write a description of the location of your object, making it as brief as you can while still allowing your instructor and classmates to precisely locate the penny on your desk.

Make your initial post, then return to the discussion board several times over the next few days to read your classmates’ posts and try to determine the location of someone's object. Reply to at least two of them, being sure to share whether or not you were successful using their brief description.
