Module 10: Social Psychology
Social psychology deals with how humans think about, influence, and relate to one another. Rather than assuming that people’s thoughts and behaviors are fundamentally stable, social psychology seeks to understand the ways that larger contexts such as family, friends, social roles, norms, and expectations can dramatically affect behavior. While underlying, enduring patterns of personality certainly matter, social psychology helps reveal ways in which people act differently in groups rather than alone, or differently when in one group (such as family) versus another (such as friends).
Understanding Problems Using Social Psychology
Take a moment to check back in with the students at Woodlawn Heights High School. See what they learned from the social psychology unit, and how they were able to apply this knowledge to understand their own problems.
