Motivations and Emotions Journal

authentic assessment iconfemale sitting down holding a pen in her hand and a journal in her lapTrack your daily motivations and emotions for five nights by completing the Motivations and Emotions Chart. Specifically, at the end of each day, reflect on what motivated you to do certain activities. Identify at least three activities for each day. For example, you might list studying as an activity, and to get a good grade on tomorrow’s quiz, as a motivation. Similarly, keep track of at least three emotions each day, and the physiological response you experienced for each one. For example, if you became angry one day, try to recall if you had a physical response to this emotion, such as chest tightness, or a flushed face.

Before you begin, access the Motivations and Emotions Journal Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document.

Reflection

Take a moment to reflect on the following questions, then respond to them in a brief four-to-five sentence paragraph.

  • What insights have you gained about your own motivations and emotions?
  • Identify the motivation theory that best fits into your life. Explain.
  • Are stressors in your life acute, chronic, or both? Describe an example and explain how it fits into the category.
