During this topic’s Global Guide segment, you were introduced to several foreign policy challenges that America is currently facing. These included:

• the War on Terror;
• trade with China;
• human rights abuse;
• weapons of mass destruction;
• the future of NATO;
• drug trafficking; and
• the global environment.

For this assignment, you will select one of these important foreign policy issues to research. Using the information you gather, provide a description of the issue and your personal stance on it. Why do you believe this is the most important foreign policy issue currently facing the American government? What steps do you feel are necessary to solve it? What obstacles might prevent this issue from being resolved?

Your written argument should be well-organized, creative, and interesting. Instead of simply presenting the information, try to construct an informed argument that is supported by factual evidence. This writing must be a minimum of four paragraphs, including an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Before you begin, take a look at the Foreign Policy Challenges Checklist to make sure you include all of the items required for full credit. You will use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment, so make sure you submit a Works Cited document along with your work.
