Module 2: The American Revolution - 1750s to the 1780s
Imagine that an entertainment company has hired you to develop the concept for a mobile or computer-based game application ("app") that provides students with some introductory information about the Revolutionary War. The company might develop the app and release it to the general public if your concept is accepted. In order to present your concept to the company, you will need to develop a proposal that outlines the basic purpose of the game, how it works, the basic design, mock-ups, and what someone playing it would learn.
Use the Revolutionary War App Design Template to create your application proposal. Make sure to read through and complete each section of the template. Your app design should address the following topics:
- Causes of the War;
- Important battles; and
- Ending of the War.
For examples of educational apps that have already been developed, visit the Web-Based and Mobile Applications link available in the Content area of your course.
Before you begin, access the Revolutionary War App Design Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you used.
Reflection
After you have completed your Revolutionary War application design, reflect on the process and the app you created. In a brief four to five sentence paragraph, explain whether or not you think technology like mobile applications is important to history education. Which part(s) of the app creation process did you enjoy? Which part(s) did you not enjoy?
Once you have completed this assignment and reflection, please submit your work to the dropbox.
Once you have completed this module, please complete the module test.
