The Civil War
Through the years, Americans have learned much about the Civil War by reading the letters sent home by soldiers during the war. These letters provide a glimpse into what everyday life was like for soldiers. They also provide a unique perspective on the important people, places, and events of the Civil War.
Pretend that you are a soldier writing a letter home about your experiences during the Civil War. In your eight to ten sentence letter, include the following information:
- A reference to at least one battle with supporting details;
- Information about your life in either the Union or Confederate Army; and
- Any other important details about the Civil War that you gathered from this topic.
Your letter should be clear, written in the first-person, and well-organized. Before you begin, access the Soldier's Letter Home Checklist to make sure you include all of the items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete the assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you used.
Once you have completed your letter, please submit your work to the dropbox.
