Life during the Civil War impacted everyone in the United States. Soldiers experienced the lonely living conditions on the lines, while women either managed a household with a limited amount of resources, or volunteered to help. Life during the Civil War was tough. After the Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans were allowed to enlist in the military and join the white soldiers on the line. Martina and Terrance have traveled to experience life during wartime. In this topic, Martina and Terrance will experience the conditions the common soldiers faced while on the lines, the roles and duties of women, and the enlistment and use of African American soldiers during the Civil War.
