Martina witnesses modern-day child labor

Discussion IconIn many countries with a high poverty rate, child labor still exists. While child labor is viewed as dangerous, many countries still fail to enforce active child labor laws. For example, some families use their children to supplement household income. Governments around the world often claim they are making efforts to end the “worst forms” of child labor, and yet it continues to happen. What jobs would you put into the “worst forms” category? Please cite any specific examples. Are there any acceptable forms of child labor? How would an educational system affect child labor? Post your responses to the discussions area. Then, return to the topic several times over the next few days to read your coursemates’ posts. Reply to at least two of them, making sure to offer new insights, ask questions, and encourage further conversation.
