Military Strategies and Early Atrocities

World War II was fought between the Axis Powers and the Allied Powers. It is important for you to understand where the different countries fighting in World War II are located geographically. Since this war was fought in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific, it is difficult for one map to show all of the different locations.

Part I - Europe

  1. Using the Europe Map found on the printable document, label the following countries using the correct number code.
1. Portugal 10. Albania 19. Czechoslovakia 28. Luxembourg
2. Spain 11. Greece 20. Lithuania 29. Demark
3. France 12. Yugoslavia 21. Latviva 30. Germany
4. Belgium 13. Hungary 22. Estonia  
5. Netherlands 14. Romania 23. Norway  
6. Great Britain 15. Bulgaria 24. Sweden  
7. Ireland 16. Turkey 25. Finland  
8. Switzerland 17. Poland 26. Sicily  
9. Italy 18. Austria 27. USSR  

Part II - The Pacific

  1. Using the Pacific Map found on the printable document, label the following numbered islands: Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Midway Island, Japan, and the Philippines.
  2. Create a border and shade in the area of Manchuria, China in orange.
  3. Label North and South Korea.
  4. Use an asterisk (*) to label the locations where the atomic bomb was dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Part III - Axis, Ally, or Neutral

  1. Using the world map found on the printable document, color all of the major Axis Powers as of 1941 in purple, the Allied Powers in green, and any neutral countries in yellow.
