Polis Blueprint

A blueprint is a guide or design pattern for creating something. It helps you develop a plan. Often people make blueprints of buildings, homes, or even towns before starting the project's construction.
In this topic, you learned about the Minoans, Mycenaeans, Athenians, and Spartans. Each of these ancient Greek poleis had distinguishing features that helped them thrive. In this application, you will design your own Greek polis. Ultimately you will create a blueprint for your polis that reveals each of the following points in the design:
- Polis' name
- Location in Greece
- Government system
- Coinage or currency
- Patron god
- Social structure
- Political structure
Since you will be designing your polis as a blueprint, think about the types of buildings, land areas, or structures that it should contain to address the above pieces. For example, From where might the polis' leaders govern? Where do citizens spend their money or trade goods and what currency do they use? Where do citizens go to worship and who are they praying to?
Once you know what you want to include in your polis, start designing your blueprint. You should sketch the locations of at least eight buildings, land areas, or structures. Provide a legend for your blueprint that describes the following about each location:
- The location's name;
- The location's purpose; and
- The connection to ancient Greece that inspired you to include it.
