These letters provide a glimpse into what everyday life was like for soldiers. They also provide a unique perspective on the important people, places, and events of World War I.

Pretend that you are a soldier writing a letter home about your experiences during World War I. In your eight to ten sentence letter, include the following information:

  • A reference to at least one battle with supporting details
  • Information about your life in the trenches
  • Any other important details about World War I that you gathered from this topic

Your letter should be written in the first-person, clearly-written, and well-organized. Before you begin, access the Soldier's Letter Home Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you used.

Once you have completed your letter, please submit your work to the dropbox.
