Neville Chamberlain after returning from the Munich Conference

Many people have argued that the primary reason Hitler pursued the expansionist policies which triggered World War II was because he believed the other European countries were powerless to stop Germany. After the Munich Conference where Britain accepted Hitler's promise that Germany's occupation of the Sudetenland was the end of his territorial claims, Britain's policy of appeasement proved to Hitler that the other countries didn't have the will to stand up to Germany.

What would you have done if you were in the British Parliament when Neville Chamberlain returned with the Munich Agreement? Would you have signed the document if you were Neville Chamberlain?

iconIn an original post to the course discussions area, explain if you would have signed the agreement or not. Give reasons for your position and include historical references that would support your stance. Return to the topic several times over the next few days to read your coursemates’ posts and respond to at least two of them with comments. Be sure to ask questions, and encourage further conversation.
