The Life Cycle of Stars

colored pencilsArtist IconNow that you have explore the life cycle of a star, create a comic strip that shows a star or stars at two or more points in their life cycle. The plot of your comic strip should include the following:

  • The name of the stages of stellar evolution that you are featuring
  • Information about the characteristics of a star in that stage of stellar evolution
  • Foreshadowing about the stars' next stages in stellar evolution

Make sure to assign a personality to your stars. Your comic should include a least six panels, or individual stages. It should be organized so that a reader can understand the events unfolding in the comic, and any text should be legible and clearly-marked.

Before you begin, access the Stellar Evolution Comic Strip Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit. If resources outside of this course are used to complete this assignment, please submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you used.

Options to create your comic strip include the following:

  1. Hand-draw the assignment and then take a picture of it for submission to the assignment’s dropbox.
  2. Hand-draw the assignment and then scan it for submission to the assignment’s dropbox.
  3. Create a new file in a paint or graphics program and utilize the software to create the image. You can then submit your work to the assignment’s dropbox.
  4. Use a web-based or mobile comic creator application and follow the prompts provided by the application to name your comic, select your background images, and then populate your comic with characters, word balloons, and props. When you have completed your comic, you can print it and then scan it or photograph it for submission to the assignment's dropbox. You can also save the digital file for submission to the assignment's dropbox.
