Naming Molecular Compounds

When naming the compounds, the first element in the formula is listed first and only has a prefix added if there is more than one atom present in the molecule. The second element in the formula is listed last and has the appropriate prefix and the suffix "-ide" added to its name.

Part III - Common Names

Some compounds go by their common name. Write both the common name and formula for the following compounds.

  1. Nitrogen trihydride
  2. Dihydrogen monoxide
  3. Carbon Tetrahydride
