Calorimetry

Checking the ingrediants of juice boxesCalorimetry investigates the energy transferred in a reaction. Using a calorimeter, chemists can observe how much heat is transferred from one substance to other by recording the start and end temperature of the reaction. This science is very helpful because it allows scientists to determine the energy of food. The energy of burning food will heat water in a calorimeter. From this information, the energy of the food is determined.
