State and Local Taxes

In an earlier topic, you examined the tax system and how it works. In this topic, you've refined your knowledge of state and local taxes and have a better understanding of how they are collected, what they are, and how the state and local governments use the tax dollars that they receive. Remember, there is much more to taxes than just your income taxes. All the other taxes discussed in this topic help to fund necessities and conveniences that we all enjoy.
